This course will introduce the basic concept of database systems and provide an introduction in an object-oriented script language (Python). The students will learn how to handle datasets in conjunction with web applications while utilizing the knowledge of Python. The course will also target the issue of incompatibility between different data sources (e.g. different programs or databases) and how these issues can be solved. After the course the students should have the ability to write small to medium scripts in Python and will have an understanding of database systems. A specially equipped computer training course room for 20 students is available at the Genetics institute of the LMU Munich.
